How to Find A Good Book To Read

Yesterday I wondered what to write about, so now I will follow About's 20 ideas for a blog post.  Today is number 2 and they say I should write a how to.  Now, I'm going to have to think about what to do a how to on.  I am not a professional at anything, I know how to do some interesting things, but those things need lots of explanation. Hmmmmm.

How To Find A Good Book To Read
(I doubt this method is encouraged by parents or teachers)

Step 1: Find a book store or Library
If you go with the book store route, find a cheap bookstore with used books or bring coupons. If you go with the library, get a library card.

Step 2: Look around
Find a section that interests you, really, a good book is completely dependent on the reader. I may think Harry Potter is a good book while you may hate it, but who would?

Step 3: Judge books by their cover
I know everyone says not to, but do it.  I always find my best books by judging the cover. However, not all books with good covers are good. Just look around if you see a book with a cover you like pick it up and look at it. I like the ones with really bright covers.

Step 4: Read the back
If it doesn't have a summary on the back but just a bunch of praise from random people, look in the front cover a summary may be there. Also, look on the back inside the cover.  If you have still not found a summary, just read the first paragraph. If you like it, you have two (legal) options.

Step 5: Buy the book (Option 1)
If you do this you will have to pay money, but you get to keep the book.  Take the book home and read it, if you liked it, good for you, you have learned how to find a good book. If you did not like the book try to sell it for as much many as you can and try again, using the money you got from selling the book.  Or you could try returning the book but I don't know for sure if that would work.

Step 5: Read the book at the store (Option 2)
I don't know if all stores will let you do this, but if you are able and they have chairs at the store, or you are okay with sitting on the floor, read it at the store. It will save you money and let you decide if you like it. Just start reading it, and if you really like it buy it or just continue to read at the store.  If it is a long book and you can't read it all at once, write what page you're on on your hand or a piece of paper and come back later.

Well I hope you enjoyed that. You now know how to find a good book.  So in the comments, what is your favorite book of all time?  I don't think I will be writing until at least Thursday, I'm going on a camping trip with my friend.

Top 10 Favorite Things To Do In The Summer

Today is Sunday and so I went to church. I'm a Presbyterian Christian, and just in case you're wondering I'm not a judgmental Jesus freak.  I always take the little kids down during the message so their parents don't have to try to take care of them during church.  I don't know where I was going with this nothing interesting happened.  Anyway I'm taking care of two different people's dogs right now.  The first two are a Dachshund and a big reservation dog.  You know what that means if you live near a Native American reservation.  The other two are a Border Collie and a Golden Retriever/Chow. At 2:30 I'm going to be going to Ultimate Frisbee.  I love Ultimate Frisbee it is my favorite thing to do right now.  But it is only on Sunday so I should find some other way to get my exercise during the week.
This is how it goes with everything I've ever written.  At first I'm full of ideas but then after a couple pages of writing, I can't think of anything to write about.  Yesterday I watched Easy A.  I really liked that movie it was great.  I love Emma Stone, she is my favorite actress.  I just looked up what to write a blog about.  It has 20 topics so I suppose I'll start with number one so here it is.

#1 Lists
Apparently people love lists, so you guys must love me.  Here is my top 10 favorite things to do in the summer.

#1 Ultimate Frisbee
I love Ultimate Frisbee because you get exercise, but it is so fun you don't really notice how much work you're actually doing. It's kind of like football or maybe closer to soccer, except with a Frisbee and less violent.  I have always been good at sports, but I don't like formal teams mostly because I am a nerd and look like I can't play sports so no one lets me do anything.

#2 Listen to Music
Obviously in school I'm not allowed to listen to music so during the summer I listen to music constantly. Really the only time I'm not is either when I'm playing music or talking to someone.  You could listen in the car, writing on a blog, playing video games, singing, cooking, or really anytime you can.

#3 Sing/Dance
Whenever my mom is gone, I'm actually quite shy, I just turn on music super loud and sing.  Occasionally checking to see if my mom is home. Dancing is also fun along with singing.  I sometimes record myself singing and realize how bad I am.

#4 Plant Something
I did this and it was so much fun planting things and watching them get big.  But then I dug up a patch of ground in our yard and planted stuff there. The earth in my yard I'm sure is perfect for ants to live in and horrible for plants to live.  The ants ate up all my plants and the plants that didn't get eaten just died.  I'm kind of sad.  But I still have two watermelons that I AM NOT planting in the ground.  Hopefully they'll make me some watermelons.

#5 Get A Job
I did NOT do this one.  But it is a good idea.  Last summer I got a job with my dad's boss as a tractor driver.  It was sooooooo boring.  I am not doing that again.  Though it did make good money.  In like a week I made $800.  But that went towards my trip to DC. I probably will have to get a job somewhat soon, because I'm fixing up my car and I will have to pay for gas and things.

#6 Make Clothes
Learn how to sew or just cut up shirts to make them different.  Though I highly recommend learning to sew, I can't even imagine not knowing how to sew.  Make dresses, shirts, swimming suits, skirts,  pants, shorts, tank tops.  I made my friend a stuffed Gir for her birthday, she absolutely loved it. I also made a companion cube pillow for my brother.  Knowing how to sew can be very helpful in present making.

#7 Go Swimming
I actually haven't been feeling like swimming at all this summer, I don't know why.  But usually I do, so you should do that.  It will get you out of the house and cool you down. Or learn how to swim, my mother is like 48 and still doesn't know how to swim.

#8 Go On A Road trip
I love road trips! Go on one, I don't care where you go. They are super fun and you can see all sorts of things. Play games in the car, crank up the music, sing poorly, eat.  They're is something I just adore about the possibility of going anywhere.  That's why I love my driver's permit so much.  I can go anywhere, as long as I kidnap a parent to go with me.

#9 Climb Trees
Go outside for Pete's sake and climb a tree.  I am going to climb trees for my whole life. I love seeing how high I can get and being able to see everything from a different angle.  Really just go climb anything.  I also love being on roofs. I love how you can see everything moving and being busy, however, the space around you is completely calm.

#10 Read A Book
I read so much.  When I was in about the 7th grade I was seriously worried that I was going to run out of good books to read.  I don't think that will ever happen.  Read anything, I read mostly novels but try to change it up. I read science books, magazines, how to books, and anything else that seems interesting.  A love of books can really help you get somewhere in life.

So I have a question for you if you're even in existence.  If you had to marry an inanimate object, what would you marry?

Quotes & Quotes & Quotes

I don't know how often I'll be posting, but I think at least for this week I'll try to write once a day. But maybe not, I'm going on a trip later this week.  I love quotes they make me want to read and think about the world and be interesting enough so that someday I will say something quotable.  I think mostly this week will be about me because I'm selfish and I just started but who knows maybe I'll be selfish all the time.  As you can see my page's background is covered in quotes.  All from John Green's book "The Fault In Our Stars." I love reading John's books they make me think more about the world. They also make me wish I was more like the people in his books, but I still have a lot of time (hopefully) so I can still be whoever I want to be. But I'm almost completely sure that that person is going to be me.

“Maybe our favorite quotations say more about us than about the stories and people we're quoting.”
-John Green

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
-John Lennon

"I think my melodies are superior to my lyrics."
-Freddie Mercury

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand."
-Albert Einstein

“You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world...but you do have some say in who hurts you. I like my choices.”
-John Green

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
-Albert Einstein

“Modern paintings are like women: You'll never enjoy them, if you try to understand them.”
-Freddie Mercury

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
-Abraham Lincoln

"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
-Albus Dumbledore

"Common looking people are the best in the world: that is the reason the Lord makes so many of them."
-Abraham Lincoln

“Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”
― Dr.Seuss
“if you love two people at the same time, choose the second. Because if you really loved the first one, you wouldn't have fallen for the second.”
― Johnny Depp

"Who wants to live forever?"
-Freddie Mercury

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
- Mae West

“France and the whole of Europe have a great culture and an amazing history. Most important thing, though, is that people there know how to live! In America they've forgotten all about it. I'm afraid that the American culture is a disaster.”
― Johnny Depp

“It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.”

"Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves."
-Albert Einstein

“Some people don't understand the promises they're making when they make them," I said.

"Right, of course. But you keep the promise anyway. That's what love is. Love is keeping the promise anyway.”
-John Green

I am probably going to add more quotes as I find them.  Write in the comments what you think I should write about in my blog.  I don't know what to write about, maybe I could do rants or reviews or just plain out writing about what I'm thinking. I don't know maybe it will come to me.

101 Things to Do Before You're Old and Boring

I started blogging because a book told me to.  I've always like writing but was never very good at it so I hope this helps.  The book is called 101 Things to Do Before You're Old and Boring and # 36 says to Start a blog, so I did. I'm not going in order so to me it is actually my third page.  My other two pages told me to make a paper crane and help save the planet. My mom recycles a lot so that page was easy.  Anyway so I'll tell you about me so you know who I am.
I'm a 14 year old girl, 5', 110 lbs, light brown hair, blue/grey eyes, pale skin, wears glasses, who lives in the United States. I am a huge nerdfighter and musician.  I have attempted to learn Japanese in the past and am currently attempting French so if anyone wants to help with that I'm doing better than I did in Japanese.  But still "Je suis nul a Francais." I play many instruments, these are in order that I learned them piano, clarinet, drums (sort of), bass guitar, acoustic guitar (sort of), violin, and trombone (still learning).  I am in band and also choir but I think I might quit choir next year.  I am a freshman this year and I have a driving permit, which is definitely fun.  I don't have a boyfriend, my parents won't let me, but even if I could I probably wouldn't. I'm taking biology and also geometry.  I like math and science a lot so I think I'll have fun in high school.  Most people don't like school but for the most part I like it. The only reason I don't is because it takes up most of the day. I have the potential to become a major gamer but I've kind of suppressed it because it takes up way too much time and with little productivity. When I was slightly younger I was on the computer at least 5-7 hours a day, and that was during the school year. So I quit cold turkey didn't go on the computer for like a year then slowly started back up and now go on the computer at most 2 hours a day at the least, I'm not on it for days.  Though I am on my iPod touch a lot....
